If you've been prescribed YAZ® (drospirenone & ethinyl estradiol) for birth control, your healthcare provider will tell you when to start taking your first pill.
Missing pills—even just 1—increases your risk of becoming pregnant. It's important to stay on schedule by taking your pill at the same time every day.
The pink, active pills (containing hormones) prevent pregnancy and the white, inactive pills help you stay on your daily schedule.
Tip: Be sure to use the weekly sticker found in your pill pack to help you stay on track.

You should get your period during the time you take the inactive pills, just as you would with any other combination birth control pill. Your period may last into the beginning of your next pack of pills.
There are only pink (active) and white (inactive) pills in your pack. When you finish taking all the pills in your pack, you start taking the pink pills in a new pack the very next day.
There is never a day when you are not taking a YAZ pill so once you get into the routine; it's easy to remember to take your pill at the same time every day. Learn what to do if you miss a pill.
